The project began in December 2008 immediately following the final home game for the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Needless to say, the project absolutely had to be completed prior to the first home game in September 2009. Therefore, the job was given nine months to complete and the mechanical portion of the contract was scheduled for approximately 40,000 man hours working and managing a 30-man mechanical crew.

The job was faced with many challenges. We had limited access to the main floor with one floor being demolished and constructed into two separate levels. We had lifts outside the building that were staged at heights of 190 feet. During the project IMC received over 300 change order requests with no time extensions.

The construction project came to a close just in time for the crowd of 100,000 plus to settle in for the season’s home opener and hear the UT Vols Stadium announcer Bobby Denton shout his infamous “It’s football time in Tennessee!” The project was completed on time and within budget with no recordable injuries or lost-time accidents.

FEATURED COMPLETED PROJECT

Neyland Stadium Club Level Addition Project

Interstate Mechanical Contractors was awarded the mechanical portion of the recently renovated Neyland Stadium Club Level Addition. The renovation took place in the original west side of the stadium. The project included complete renovations to the existing mechanical, plumbing and HVAC for the west side sky boxes and added a new club level which included a full service bar area. Interestingly, Interstate was the mechanical contractor for the original sky boxes constructed in 1987.
