Special Projects Division
What defines a special project?
Our Special Project Division is an integral part of the overall construction division. The Special Projects management team consists of a small group of project managers with over 60 years combined experience in the mechanical contracting field. The projects normally range in budgets from $1000 - $100,000 and are fully-manned with a field crew that is accustomed to the fast-paced and quick lead times these jobs can deliver. Many will involve weekend owner shut downs.

Featured Project (Completed March 2010)
U.S. Cellular Asheville MTSO Expansion
Asheville, North Carolina
IMC recently completed a six-month project at the U.S. Cellular Tower in Asheville, NC. The project began in October 2009 and completed March 2010. The building houses highly heat sensitive telecommunication equipment that switches up to 2.8 million cell phone minutes per day in the Asheville area. The scope of work consisted of the change out of the existing equipment and installation of six Leibert air handling units for the sole purpose of maintaining the cool temperature requirement of the switch.
Transportation became quite a factor for our working crew that had the experience of driving alternate and much longer routes to the jobsite due to the numerous rock slides on Interstate 40 East. Western North Carolina and upper east Tennessee just came off record snowfalls and one of the worst winters in the last ten years making travel conditions a bit interesting as well. In spite of this fact, Interstate completed the project on time, under budget with no lost-time recordable injuries or accidents. We returned back to Knoxville with a satisfied owner and we were very proud of the job well done.
